It goes without question that Murray's knows cheese. What they also know is creativity with dinner. When we visited to check out their restaurant week dinner offerings, we expected cheese and its usual pairings. Little did we know we would be enjoying top notch entrees like Monkfish & Shrimp!
For Entrées we went with the Seasonal Mac & Cheese, which was PESTO. What a dangerously cheesey Mac! Would you want it any other way? The variety of Murray's fine, high quality cheeses must be responsible for the sharpness and richness of this Mac & Cheese. The pesto mac was out of this world!
The other entree on our table was the Monkfish! This poor man's lobster did not disappoint, neither did the shrimp, meaty, and flavorful winter greens serving as a bed to this rockstar dish! All was served atop a white wine sauce. Delish! Murray's soared way beyond our expectations! One should experience both locations only two doors apart on Bleeker Street in the West Village. Our jaws dropped entering the store. Murray's Cheese Shop is a cheese lover's paradise and home chef's cheesy resource! Established in 1940, today Murray's houses over 100 different kinds of cheese! That's a lot of cheese, and their restaurant is a lot of good!
